Upgrading to Crystal Reports for Peachtree Version 9, from Peachtree Version 8

  1. Select Crystal Reports from the Reports menu
  2. Select the custom report to convert
  3. Click OK
  4. From the Database menu, select Verify Database

Crystal will attempt to convert the report by comparing the database tables in version 8 and those used in version 9.  It compares the field names in the existing tables with the field names in the new tables and maps the fields.  In some cases, it doesn’t recognize what the new field name is.  Crystal will list the unmapped fields and let you map them manually.

Map Unmapped Fields

1. From the Database menu, select Verify Database

If there are unmapped fields they will appear on the left side of the window in the Unmapped Fields list box

2. Select the unmapped field

3. Find the unmapped field's equivalent in the list box on the right side of the window and select it

4. Click the Map button

Keep the Match type check box checked

5. Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 for any other fields that are unmapped

6. Click OK to return to the report

Next, Relink Database Tables

1. Select Database Expert from the Database menu

2. Select the database source you need to add to the list of tables (i.e., Chart)

3. Click the first arrow button (>) to the left of the Available Database Sources window

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to move any other data sources to the Selected Tables list box

5. Select the Links tab

6. Select a link

7. Select the Link Options button

8. Select the Left Outer Join button

9. Select OK

10. Repeat steps 6, 7, 8 and 9 for each link that needs to be changed to Left Outer Join

11. There may be links that aren't needed.  Right click on these links and select Delete Link.

If you see the message, "the database is now up to date", click OK to close the message and proceed with the next step.

12. Select the Refresh button

13. Select Prompt for new parameter values

14. If appropriate, in the Enter Parameter Values window, use the End of range drop-down box to select the very end of the range

15. Select OK to accept the setting and run the report

You may receive an error message stating that one of the functions is not valid in this version of Crystal.  If you are working with Crystal Reports for Peachtree Version 8, click OK to close the message.  Your report functions will still work with Peachtree 2004.  If you are working with version 9 of Crystal Reports for Peachtree, follow the instructions for, "Replacing Old Report Functions".
